Biography
Horst Hahn was born in Bergisch Gladbach in 1937. He did an apprenticeship as pipelayer and plumber. After the subsequent study of restoration (1964 to 1966) he worked as restorer until 2002. Between 1968 and 1996 he restored among other things works of Joseph Beuys from the collection van der Grinten/Museum Schloß Moyland. He had some Mail Art contacts since the beginning of the 1970s. At the same time he engaged himself intensely with photography. In 1994 he became member of the German Association for Photography (Cologne) and in 1999 of the Association for Photography (Berlin). His favorite field of work is travel photography with focus on Africa. He lives in Cologne.
From 1974 on he published the graphic edition “Zufall” (Chance/Accident) with 66 issues up to now. Together with his wife Barbara he owns a huge collection of photographs that had first been shown unter the title “Man Ray till Sigmar Polke” in Delmenhorst (Catalogue 2006).
