Biography
Albrecht d was born in Nordhausen on April, 21, 1944. He was still in school in the nearby Ellrich, when his mother left the GDR in 1955. In 1958 he followed her to Stuttgart and saw this as an exile.
In 1966, he did his first public actions/happenings in. He met Wolf Vostell. Already a year before he cut his abstract art into postcard-sized pieces and sent them to friends. Since then, he is engaging himself in Correspondence/Mail Art.
In 1968, he founded Reflection Press and the flug/flux journal-newspaper. Between 1967 and 1972 he organized Fluxus concerts and took part in other performances as well. In 1974, he was part of the legendary exhibition ART INTO SOCIETY/SOCIETY INTO ART in London, where an impromptu concert with Joseph Beuys came about.
Compositions and musical performances are an essential part of his work. His stage name alludes to Albrecht Dürer, whose very well-known initial he scratched into a ruler already in the 2nd grade. For his 33rd birthday (1977) the Stuttgart State Gallery showed 111 of hist postcards. In 1978 he commissioned a composition Radio Bremen. Albrecht/d. loved unique numbers and had been living in Stuttgart until his death on February, 12, 2013.
